The main settings in
Catching Fire are District 12 and the Quarter Quell Arena. District 12 is one of the districts that also is the poorest out of all the other districts. This is where Katniss lives with her family and her friend Peeta. The living conditions in District 12 are awful. They have improved a little since Katniss and Peeta won the Hunger Games back in book 1 but still are no where near the living conditions in Districts 1 and 2. Many people from this district are in poverty and have a tough time looking for food and other resources you need in order to survive. Katniss gives back to the community by giving a little bit of food to the needy. The other major setting is the arena which is where the tributes from each district fight against one another. The arena is called the Quarter Quell. The arena is full of obstacles similar to those from book 1 and their objective is to eliminate the tributes. This is where most of the action will take place. The author of
Catching Fire is Suzanne Collins. Suzanne Collins is 51 years old and has written many novels but her most famous work would have to be the Hunger Games trilogy. I chose to read this book since I have already read the Hunger Games and it intrigued me with all the action that is packed in. After I had read the novel I also decided to watch the movie and that led me to choose to read the second book in the series which would have to be
Catching Fire. I believe that later in this novel Katniss will enter the arena and later win again as she did in the first book she will then come back to District 12 and improve their living conditions to those similar to other districts.
