Blog Post 1 Setting

In the book The Maze Runner the main setting of the story takes place in a Glade.  At the Glade there are many things that challenge the main character.  The Glade is very similar to a maze that is super difficult to get out of since there are many obstacles that confront the main character Thomas. There are around 40 to 50 other boys that are at the Glade with Thomas.  In the maze there are Grievers that are controlled by the creators that will challenge the boys that will enter the Maze.

The author of  The Maze Runner is James Dashner who also has written the 13th Reality series and the Jimmy Fincher Saga. He is 41 years old and he graduated from Brigham Young University.  He mostly writes books that are adventure, survival, or science-fiction genres. James Dashner's most famous novels are The Maze Runner and the 13th Reality.

I chose to read The Maze Runner because I have heard a lot of great things about this novel.  I like to read adventure novels and this is one of those books that is full of action and has very little parts that are slow.  I have heard that this novel is action packed and it will be tough to put down after Thomas encounters the obstacles that are found in the Maze.

I think that in this novel the main character who is Thomas will be put in the Maze and he will have to fight and claw his way out of the Maze.  While he is in the maze Thomas will have to encounter many grievers and other obstacles that will make his way through the maze even more tough.  I also think that Thomas will encounter another boy that is also in the Maze and they will eventually work together for the common goal of getting out of the Maze after dealing with all of the obstacles that can be found while they are inside of the Maze.

  1. This sounds like a very good and interesting book. The setting you described reminds me a lot of the hunger games because its set in a place that is controlled by other people.

  3. I've started this book twice but never finished it, I think if you end up liking this book you should check out, Among the Hidden. I read it around 6th grade, and I remember liking it a lot.
